Note for Dungeon Master and Chaos Strikes Back:

  • You need to format the save game disk from within the game before saving your game or it will hang when you try to save. If you don't have a formatted save game disk in drive FDD2 (B:), the program will hang whenever you try to save or load your game.
If you cannot read Japanese: When you are in the disk dialog in the game, the "Format" option is the lower left button. Then you have to confirm by clicking on the upper button in the next dialog, then again twice on the "OK" button.
The upper left button is "Save", the upper right is "Save and quit" and the lower right is "Cancel".

Notes for Dungeon Master II for PC-9801:

  • A formatted save disk is supplied in the archives (formatting does not work from within the game). If you don't have a formatted save game disk in drive FDD1, the program will hang whenever you try to save or load your game.
If you cannot read Japanese: When you are in the disk dialog in the game, the "Format" option is the lower left button. Then you have to confirm by clicking on the upper button in the next dialog, then again twice on the "OK" button.
The upper left button is "Save", the upper right is "Quit" and the lower right is "Cancel".
  • To save your game, you have to replace the "Disk B - Key Disk" in drive FDD1 by your save game disk. Then you can click on the Save button, and in the next dialog box you can choose which slot to use.
To load your game from the main screen, you have to replace the Disk A Boot Disk in FDD1 by your save game disk and then click on "Resume".

Notes for Dungeon Master II for PC-9821:

  • If you get a blue screen with some colored pixels on the top when you start the game (instead of the FTL logo animation) then you must add the anexx21 module to your Anex86 folder.
  • If you get the following error message after the FTL logo animation:
    不正な割り込みが発生しました
    割り込み番号 67H
    リセットスイッテを押してください
    Illegal interrupt occurred
    Interrupt number 67H
    Please press reset switch

then it means EMM386.EXE is not correctly loaded from the config.sys file.
  • If you get a SYSTEM ERROR 41 it means the game cannot load the graphics.dat file. The DATA folder of the game must be located at the root of the drive where the game is stored.
  • Remaining issues: The text cursor is still blinking on the top left of the screen. The CD audio tracks are not played.
  • If you want to copy the game to a hard drive, you must crack the program or it will ask you to insert the CD-ROM when saving and loading your progress:
    1. The original FIRE.EXE file is compressed with LZEXE. Use UNLZEXE to decompress the file.
    2. Open the file in a hexadecimal editor.
    3. Go to offset 2090Eh and replace '16 8D' by 'EB 44'.
    4. Go to offset 225B1h and replace '16 8B' by 'EB 41'.
